This Celery Cream Cheese Grilled Cheese is one of those sandwiches that doesn’t seem like it should work, but somehow, it just does. The combination of cream cheese, cheddar, and a celery-carrot blend creates a rich, savory filling with just the right amount of saltiness. Celery salt brings out a subtle, almost refreshing note that pairs beautifully with melted cheese, while the Carrot Spreggies add a hint of sweetness and depth. It’s a different take on grilled cheese, but once you try it, you might just find yourself making it again.

This recipe uses...

Ingredients

  • 2 slices of bread
  • 1/2 tablespoon coconut oil
  • slices of cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons cream cheese
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 tablespoon Carrot Spreggies
  • 1/4 teaspoon celery salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder

Bake Mode is Off

Directions

  1. Prepare the Bread:

Brush one side of each slice of bread with coconut oil, making sure the surface is evenly coated for a crispy, golden crust.

  2. Make the Celery-Carrot Mixture:

In a small bowl, mix 1 tablespoon Carrot Spreggies, 1/4 teaspoon celery salt, 1/4 teaspoon onion powder, and 2 tablespoons water. Stir until it forms a smooth, spreadable paste. If it’s too thick, add a little more water; if it’s too thin, sprinkle in a bit more Carrot Spreggies. The mixture will taste slightly salty on its own, but once combined with the cheese, it blends in perfectly.

  3. Assemble the Sandwich:

Spread the carrot-celery mixture evenly over the unbrushed side of one slice of bread. On the other slice, spread 2 tablespoons of cream cheese, then layer cheddar cheese slices over the top, making sure to cover the surface. Press the two slices together with the fillings inside.

  4. Pre-Melt the Cheese (Optional):

For a smoother, meltier texture, microwave the assembled sandwich for 30 seconds before grilling. This helps the cheese soften without overcooking the bread in the pan.

  5. Grill the Sandwich:

Heat a pan over medium heat and place the sandwich in the pan. Cook for about 2-3 minutes per side, pressing down lightly with a spatula, until the bread is golden brown and crisp and the cheese has melted.

  6. Serve and Enjoy:

Let the sandwich cool for a moment before slicing. The combination of warm, creamy cheese and the subtle flavor of celery makes this a surprisingly addictive twist on grilled cheese.
