About Spruits & Spreggies
What are Spruits and Spreggies?
Spruits are fruit powders and Spreggies are vegetable powders, both made from 100% freeze-dried produce. They're designed to make it easier for parents to add fruits and veggies to kids' meals without the hassle of prep work. Each powder is minimally processed to retain its natural color, flavor, and nutritional value.
Why use freeze-dried powders instead of fresh produce?
Freeze-dried powders are shelf-stable, lightweight, and convenient. They retain much of the nutrition found in fresh produce but are easier to store and use. You don’t have to worry about spoilage, chopping, or waste—just scoop and stir.
Are these made just for kids?
Spruits & Spreggies were designed with kids in mind—tiny portions, mild flavors, and fun packaging. But adults love them too! They’re great for anyone who wants to sneak more produce into their day without extra effort.
Where are Spruits & Spreggies made?
We package and quality-check every product in small batches in Texas. Our ingredients are commercially freeze-dried and sourced from trusted producers that meet strict food safety standards.
Freeze-Drying
What is freeze-drying?
Freeze-drying is a method of preserving food by removing moisture through a cold, vacuum-based process. The food is first frozen, then the ice is turned directly into vapor without passing through a liquid phase (a process called sublimation). This keeps the structure, color, and nutrients mostly intact.
Why is freeze-drying better than air-drying or dehydrating?
Unlike air-drying, freeze-drying removes moisture without using heat, which helps preserve delicate nutrients and flavors. Freeze-dried foods also rehydrate more easily and maintain a more natural taste and appearance.
Does freeze-drying affect the nutrition of fruits and vegetables?
Freeze-dried produce retains up to 97% of its original nutrients, making it one of the most effective preservation methods available. This includes vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that can degrade with traditional heat-based drying.
How long do freeze-dried foods last?
When properly sealed and stored, freeze-dried foods can last months or even years. This is one of the reasons freeze-drying is used for camping, backpacking, and emergency preparedness—it creates lightweight, shelf-stable foods that retain their nutrition and flavor without refrigeration. Our powders are shelf-stable for up to 12 months unopened and remain fresh for several weeks after opening, depending on how they’re stored.

Ingredients & Nutrition
What ingredients are in each flavor?
Each product contains only one ingredient: 100% fruit or vegetable. That means no sugar, no salt, no preservatives, and no additives—just pure produce in powder form.
Do they contain any allergens?
Our products are made from single-ingredient fruits and vegetables. However, they are packed in a facility that also handles milk, so there is a possibility of trace amounts. Always read the label if your child has a severe allergy.
Are the powders raw or cooked?
Most of our fruits are freeze-dried raw to preserve their nutrients. Some vegetables, like sweet potatoes, are lightly cooked before freeze-drying to improve texture and digestibility.
Are Spruits & Spreggies organic?
Not yet, but we’re working on it! Right now, our products are made with conventionally grown fruits and vegetables from trusted suppliers. Our goal is to expand into certified organic options in the future as we grow.

Usage & Storage
How do I use the powders?
Spruits come in individual sachets—just tear one open and mix the fruit powder into yogurt, oatmeal, applesauce, smoothies, or pancake batter. Spreggies come in a resealable glass bottle and are spooned out as needed, making them great for savory meals like pasta, eggs, or sauces. Both are designed to blend easily into foods your child already enjoys.

How much should I use?
For Spruits, each sachet is pre-portioned—just use the full packet for one serving. For Spreggies, we recommend starting with about one teaspoon and adjusting based on taste or recipe. You can use more or less depending on the dish and your child’s preferences.

Can I use them in baking or cooking?
Absolutely! You can mix them into muffins, pancakes, pasta sauces, or even homemade popsicles. They add a colorful nutritional boost without changing the texture too much.
How should I store the powders after opening?
Unopened Spruits and Spreggies are best used by the date printed on the package and should be stored in a cool, dry place. Once opened, Spruits sachets should be used immediately—they’re hygroscopic and will absorb moisture quickly. Spreggies come in a glass bottle and should be tightly resealed after each use to protect them from moisture. For best quality, consume Spreggies within 6–8 weeks of opening.
Keep sachets sealed and stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
Packaging & Safety
What kind of packaging do you use?
Spruits come in a recyclable cardboard box containing individually sealed single-serve sachets made from food-safe, moisture-resistant material. Spreggies are packaged in reusable glass bottles with foil induction seals and foam-lined caps to help protect freshness. Both are designed for convenience, safety, and product integrity.
Are the sachets labeled?
To reduce printing costs (and keep things fun!), each box comes with a sheet of stickers. Kids can label their own packets—making it both functional and playful.
Can I recycle the packaging?
Yes, but it depends on the component. The Spruits cardboard box is fully recyclable in curbside programs. The individual sachets are not currently recyclable. Spreggies bottles are made of glass and can be recycled or repurposed at home. The foil seal and cap liner may not be recyclable in all areas—check with your local facility.
